Abstract

|
Statistical observation and brief review of 155 cases of chest trauma who were admitted to the St. Paul´s hospital, Catholic Medical Center, during from Jan. 1961 to Aug. 1967 were carried out.
Among the 155 cases of chest injuries, non-penetrating wounds were 142 cases (91.6% )and penetrating 13 cases(8. 4 % ), which was considerablly different comparing to that of battle casualties.
The most patients (116 cases) were caused by car accident in 142 cases of non-penfetrating injuries.
In 49 cases, rib fracture was noticed and among them 28 cases were more than tone rib. Hemothorax (3 cases), pneumothorax (6 cases) and hemo-pneumothorax (10 cases) were also associated. Brief review on early accurate diagnosis and first aid to chest trauma were discussed.
